OH BLESSED DISPAIR

When your down and out.
When it seems you have no hope,
And life has taken another road.

When the sun has set
When the moon cannot be seen
And darkness fills your heart.

The golden bath of dawn
Is nearer than you can know.
For in the clutter of the day
True wisdom stays at bay.

"'Tis in despair of night
When false hopes are laid to rest,
That we may chance to realize
The vanity of the daily chase.

Life is a bottle of wine.
While in the daily race
The bottle only they embrace.

But, oh blessed despair!
When in darkness I lay,
I drink the wine
And throw the bottle away.
